When I started podcasting, I was told I needed long-form content if I wanted to grow a serious online business. So I launched a show, committed to consistency, and created what I thought was valuable content. For nearly a year, it generated almost no listeners and zero revenue. It became just another marketing task on my list, and I started to resent the time it required.
The problem wasn’t the podcast. It was how I was using it.
I had been treating my show like nurture content instead of what it actually needed to be: the top of my sales funnel. Once I made the decision to intentionally design it to build trust, guide listeners through a customer journey, and move them toward my offers, everything changed.
Today, my podcast is ranked in the Top 3% globally and I'm a Top 20 Marketing podcast host. It has generated nearly 50,000 downloads and more than $400,000 in revenue, and approximately 90% of my business now comes directly from my show.
